Set shortly before Avatar: The Way of Water , Avatar Frontiers of Pandora missions: Frontiers of Pandora takes players to the never-before-explored Western Frontier of Pandora. They take on the role of a Na’vi who was taken as a child by the RDA and trained as a soldier before they are put into suspended animation. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora sees players wake up fifteen years later and embark on a standalone story uniting the Frontier clans against the
Ubisoft has confirmed that a lot RDA’s military vehicles to be appearing in Frontiers of Pandora . The gameplay overview showed the protagonist destroying several of them, including a mech suit and an SA-2 Samson. Whether the player will be limited to destroying them, or if they can in fact operate the RDA’s vehicles, is not yet cl
When first looking at the map of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora , it clearly looks as busy as any Ubisoft game . Expanding the map all the way out also showed us how big the area was, at least twice the size of the playable section we were given (which we could not explore all of during our time with the game), and everywhere the save file hadn’t been before us was covered in clouds. There are color-marked areas, marked for resource gathering; names across wider regions, indicating things like swamps; and a few select stand out areas marked like the Home Tree. Some areas like the Ikran Rookery weren’t specifically marked until we made it to them for the quest, so it’s clearly a map that develops over t
Ubisoft’s Avatar game could capitalize on these concepts by offering a wide range of rideable creatures throughout Pandora, letting you traverse the land, sea, and air easily. There’s even room for more animals to be introduced in the game — after all, who knows what else lurks in the mysterious planet’s environm
Despite the Na’vi’s initial victory, the RDA has returned in full force and expanded their operations across Pandora. Gamers also learn about another crime committed against the Na’vi, as if attempted genocide wasn’t enough. One operation the RDA attempted involved kidnapping Na’vi children and then raising them to become soldiers who fight against their own people – sadly not an unusual tactic for coloniz
Ubisoft hasn’t recently allowed players to pay for XP boosts, but it is a tactic that could be used to speed up progression in Frontiers of Pandora. The scope of the game has yet to be revealed, but it’s reasonable to expect a large open world with several side quests from Ubisoft’s past work with Immortals Fenyx Rising __ and Far Cry . One tactic Ubisoft could use to justify XP boosts is making XP hard to find in the expansive overworld, thus incentivizing players to simply buy it and save time leveling up their charac
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an action-adventure game rather than a full MMORPG, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be microtransactions. Ubisoft has a history of over-monetizing its games, with Far Cry 6 being a recent example of mostly single-player games that suffered from online stores and premium currencies. There’s nearly no doubt that for even a single-player experience, there will be monetization available in Frontiers of Pando
As far as the RDA is concerned, Pandora is rightfully theirs to do with as they see fit and the Na’vi are overstepping boundaries, a lot like historical colonialism. Like many real-life corporations, the RDA has a history of over-valuing profits at the expense of others. They were already causing mass pollution on Earth with their lunar factories, and they aren’t opposed to destroying Pandora’s ecosystems for the sake of mo
Waiting for technology to catch up is another part of the series though. The Avatar movie waited for years for technology to be able to handle its vision and with the new generation of consoles and PC hardware where it is now is probably the best time to start the franchise’s series of games. It might mean waiting a bit longer for some fans but the best result possible comes from the game being on the hardware it needs when Frontiers of Pandora releases in 20
There are many ways that Ubisoft could make players pay for progression through the game. Even with the game focusing on the Na’vi people and the natural landscape of Pandora, Frontiers of Pandora can monetize cosmetics as well as the general progression through the game. From costumes to fast travel to creatures, the new Avatar game could give players plenty of opportunities to spend real mo
Ubisoft has a strong interest in open-world games that borders on obsession, so much so that gamers were ready to believe that the Splinter Cell remake would be open-world , despite the fact that Splinter Cell has no real business being so. Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with open-world design, but Ubisoft franchises like Assassin’s Creed are routinely poked fun at for having remarkably rote and predictable exploration elements that boil down to following endless map markers and scaling towers. Indeed, this approach to making open-world games has reached a point of parody, especially in the age of critically acclaimed games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring , which have received praise for rejecting these Ubisoft-style open-world tre
