These cells are called melanocytes and when damaged they release melanin. In clusters melanin forms shadows on the skin which we see as pigmentation. It is important to have pigmentation patches checked by a professional GP, aesthetic doctor or dermatologist. Pigmentation may not be dangerous but some patches will need careful evaluation on a regular basis. It is important to see the professional who can examine pigmentation properly. Beauty therapists are not trained or qualified to do this. They may make the problem worse or miss a pre cancerous mole or even a melanoma. Pigmentation is a complex condition. Our patients come to Thames Skin Clinic for vein treatment, so they feel confident wearing shorter summer clothes. Unfortunately, thread veins do not get better on their own. Veins often get worse and can spread over larger areas. Treatment is possible to remove thread veins. Laser and cautery have a role with certain types and areas of broken veins. For larger areas especially those on the legs we find Sclerotherapy most successful. Over the past 12 years Dr Hemming has been treating unwanted leg veins with micro-sclerotherapy. These are small injections of a special solution into the veins, which cause the small thread veins to close and heal together. Thread veins commonly appear on the skin. Veins appearing on legs can be linked to poor venous blood return and may be associated with varicose veins or other vein problems. Before going ahead with treatment, the veins need to be examined and tested to ensure this treatment is right for you.   At Thames Skin Clinic Dr Hemming has designed her bespoke vein assessment and treatment program to ensure your veins are suitable for this particular treatment. If they are not or we believe a different treatment will suit them better, we can offer this instead. Instead of asking you to decide we use your assessment appointment to offer the most suitable treatment for the areas you are concerns with. There are some medical conditions and medication (aspirin) that can affect treatment including allergies and clotting problems. Thames Skin Clinic therapists are highly trained in the use of treatments and can be consulted to discuss treatment options. Dr Hemming provides Sclerotherapy treatment. We discuss your medical history and allergies and may stop some of your medication prior to treatment if safe and necessary to do so. Treatment may cause some bruising and swelling. This settles in days. There are specific aftercare instructions following thread vein treatment. There is no downtime following Leg vein treatment. Sometimes the treated vein may bruise or leave a small scab on the skin. These are self healing and will gently fade as the skin repairs. Understanding the major hormone functions will help you take control of your health. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), also known as bio-identical hormone therapy, or body identical hormone therapy, is a term to the use of hormones that are chemically the same as the hormones in our body. In both men and women, key hormones begin to decrease with age which can lead to health issues and unpleasant symptoms, so BHRT is used to help balance out the natural decline of our production or address general hormonal imbalances at any age. > > HAIRLINE LOWERING Forehead reduction surgery – Hairline lowering Surgical Forehead weeks Forehead reduction surgery London What is forehead reduction surgery? Forehead reduction surgery, also known as hairline lowering, is a cosmetic procedure we perform at Dr Ducu Clinics to lower the hairline and reduce the size of the forehead. This surgical technique is often sought by people with a high or disproportionately large forehead who desire a more balanced and facial appearance. Forehead reduction surgery can help enhance facial harmony, improve self-confidence, and achieve the desired facial proportions for people seeking a more youthful or feminine/masculine appearance. How does hairline-lowering work? At Dr Ducu Clinics, we use the FUE method for the hairline-lowering procedure. Hairline-lowering surgery using this advanced method involves the precise extraction of individual hair follicles from the back or sides of the scalp, known as the donor area. These follicles are then meticulously transplanted to the front hairline to lower and reshape it, creating a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Hairline lowering using the FUE method offers a non-invasive solution to disproportionate forehead appearance. What causes an excessively high hairline? An excessively high hairline can be caused by a variety of factors, often leading people to seek forehead reduction surgery as a solution.  This procedure is popular among those looking to create a more balanced facial appearance and lower their hairline. These often drive many people to choose reduction surgery to achieve a more proportionate and youthful appearance. Do you also struggle with one of these conditions? Book a consultation to discuss how hairline-lowering surgery can help you! Forehead reduction surgery at Dr Ducu Clinics London 1. Consultation The first step in your hair restoration process is the initial appointment you will have with your plastic surgeon. During this consultation, the surgeon evaluates your hairline, discusses your cosmetic & goals and expectations, and assesses if you are a good fit for the procedure. The surgeon takes into account factors such as hair loss pattern, scalp laxity, and overall facial proportions to develop a customised treatment plan tailored to your needs. 2. FUE hairline lowering Before having the procedure, we will administer local anaesthesia to ensure comfort throughout the process. Using the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method, the surgeon will harvest individual hair follicles from the donor area, located at the back or sides of the scalp. This is done using a specialised surgical tool known as a micro punch. These devices are extremely small, from 0.6mm to 1.0mm in diameter, allowing the surgeon to precisely extract follicular units containing 1-4 hairs each, minimising trauma to the surrounding . These follicles are then carefully transplanted to the frontal hairline to lower and reshape it, following the pre-determined design established during the consultation. The entire is performed with meticulous attention to detail to achieve natural-looking results and minimal scarring. 3. Aftercare & recovery Following the surgery, you will receive detailed post-operative instructions. These may include for washing the scalp, avoiding strenuous activities, and taking prescribed medications to aid in healing and prevent infection. You will need to keep the treated area clean and protected, and avoid certain hair styling products or activities that could disrupt the healing process. We will also schedule regular follow-up appointments to monitor progress and address any concerns during the period. 4. Results In the months following the procedure, you will experience gradual hair growth as the transplanted follicles take root and begin to produce new hair. While initial results may be visible within a few months, full results typically become apparent after approximately 9-12 months, once the hair has fully grown and matured. You can expect a lower and more balanced hairline that enhances your facial Cosmetic & and improves overall self-confidence. The results are long-lasting and natural. However, FUE Hair Transplant offers several advantages that make it an appealing choice. Procedure: Hairline Advancement – surgically moving the scalp forward by making an incision along the hairline and repositioning it, which lowers the hairline . FUE Hair Transplant – This invasive procedure transplants individual hair follicles from a donor area to the hairline, gradually lowering it and adding density over time. Results: Hairline Advancement – Provides immediate, visible results with a significantly lower hairline post-surgery. FUE Hair Transplant – Offers natural-looking results that develop as the transplanted hair grows over several months, blending seamlessly with existing hair. Recovery: Hairline Advancement – Requires about 1-2 weeks of recovery, with potential swelling and bruising around the forehead. FUE Hair Transplant – Has a shorter recovery time with minimal discomfort; most patients experience only mild or that resolves within a few days. Suitability: Hairline Advancement – Best for individuals with a high hairline and no significant hair loss, with good scalp elasticity. FUE Hair Transplant – Ideal for those with a receding or thinning hairline – offering a flexible solution that can be tailored to individual needs and preferences, with the added benefit of addressing hair loss. Here are some of the reasons many of our patients have chosen this procedure: Natural-looking results – The FUE method allows us to create a hairline that looks and feels natural. This new, hairline will complement your facial features. Minimal scarring – Unlike traditional hair transplant techniques that require a linear donor scar, the FUE method involves harvesting individual follicular units using tiny circular incisions. This approach promotes faster healing and minimal scarring. Customised treatment – The FUE method allows us to tailor the procedure
